Top Match ups of Week 4

Presented by PME Fabrication

#6 Collinsville (3-0) at #4 Muenster (3-0), Friday at 7pm

After Muenster gutted out a comeback win over Windthorst last week, the Hornets must quickly turn around and get ready for another ranked 2A Division II opponent. Old district foe, and sixith ranked, Collinsville will make the trip to Muenster. The Pirates are 3-0 on the season with wins over Tioga, Cooper and Bells, who are all 1-2. Collinsville has a talented backfield led by QB Paxton Davidson and RB Chase Sheppard. Muenster did a fantastic job taking away Brock Belcher’s air-raid ability last week, coming up with three interceptions, but the Hornets will have to do a good job containing Collinsville’s explosive run plays. Muenster will also look for another standout performance from QB Carter Heller, who hurt Windthorst with his legs last week. The Hornets cannot afford another slow start and expect to consistently rely on highlight plays from Heller to bail them out. Muenster has won three straight in this rivalry, and I expect them to make it four in what should be another great game. Computer Pick: Muenster by 13.

#5 Jacksboro (3-0) at Bowie (3-0), Friday at 7pm (Game of the Week)

An old rivalry is renewed between the Tigers and Jackrabbits. According to Lone Star Football, this will be the 75th meeting between the two programs, with Bowie leading the all-time series 42-27-5. Jacksboro has jumped out to a 3-0 start and has climbed to No. 5 in the Class 3A Division II rankings. Sophomore RB Ryder Davis has emerged as a bell cow for the Tigers’ offense, currently totaling 344 rushing yards. Jacksboro QB Hoyt Wesson has also been a problem with his legs, rushing for 321 yards through the first three weeks. The most points Jacksboro has allowed so far came against Boyd, when the Tigers gave up 233 yards through the air. Although Bowie’s strength of schedule has been on the weaker side, the Jackrabbits have found plenty of offensive success, averaging 414 yards per game. The matchup I am most looking forward to is the Jacksboro defense against the Tyler Richey-led Jackrabbit offense. Jacksboro will need to contain Richey, while Bowie’s offensive line will face its toughest test of the season against a defensive front that has recorded 22 tackles for loss and 12 sacks. Will Treadway has led the way with eight sacks in just three games. If Bowie’s offense is able to move the ball and find success, this could be a game that comes down to the fourth quarter. However, I’m rolling with the state-ranked Tigers to leave Jackrabbit Stadium 4-0. Computer Pick: Jacksboro by 8.

Sanger (3-0) at #8 Whitesboro (3-0), Thursday at 7pm

The Sanger Indians have done nothing but find ways to win so far in 2026. One of the biggest questions entering the season was how they would replace the offensive production of QB Reed Sebastian and RB Reggie Jones. RB Bola Ogunwuyi has stepped up in a big way, running wild through the first three weeks with 609 rushing yards and six touchdowns. QB Austin Martin has also done a quality job as the new signal caller for the Indians, throwing for 296 yards while adding another 315 yards on the ground. The Indians will make the Thursday night trip to Whitesboro, which entered the Class 3A Division I state rankings this week at No. 8. The Bearcats have wins over City View, Bells and Bridgeport and will look to add a statement win in their first game as a state-ranked team. According to Pigskin Prep, Sanger was an underdog against Paris in Week 2 but came away with a 24-22 victory. The Indians will look to pull off another upset this week and move to 4-0 for the first time since 2022. I’m rolling with the 940 pick here and expect Ogunwuyi and the Indians to get the job done in what should be a great Thursday night game in Whitesboro. Computer Pick: Whitesboro by 4.

#8 Windthorst (2-1) at Henrietta (2-1), Friday at 7pm

This will be the 11th straight year the Trojans and Bearcats have played, with Windthorst winning seven of the last 10 meetings. Windthorst is coming off a heartbreaking loss to back-to-back state champion Muenster, where the Trojans held a lead for the majority of the game. Henrietta had a nice bounce-back victory over Boyd last week after falling to Marlow, Oklahoma, in Week 2. This game will feature two of the biggest names in the 940, Windthorst QB Brock Belcher and Henrietta RB Cruse Coleman. These two teams combined for 102 points in last year’s matchup, with Windthorst coming away with a 60-42 victory. I expect another offensive-heavy game this year. I like Belcher and the Trojan offense to put up more points and come away with another win, but never count out the Bearcats, as we learned in Week 1. Computer Pick: Windthorst by 5.

Era (3-0) at Alvord (3-0), Friday 7pm

The Era Hornets began 2025 with a 5-0 start that included an upset win over Petrolia in Week 1. Once again in 2026, they are following a similar path with wins over Petrolia, Muenster Sacred Heart and Seymour. The Hornets will face their toughest test of the 2026 season when they travel to Alvord to take on the 3-0 Bulldogs. Alvord is known for its tough, physical style of play, which comes as no surprise with Matt Fanning at the helm. Alvord QB Rhett Richey went down with an injury in Week 1. Cutter Hamilton initially took over at quarterback, but in last week’s game against Petrolia, Max Prcin accounted for all of Alvord’s quarterback production. Era’s offense is built around dual-threat QB Cope Thomason, who has totaled 495 passing yards and 255 rushing yards through three games. Alvord’s bread and butter comes in the running game, with Kamper Barnes and Cutter Hamilton combining for 678 rushing yards so far. Both teams have one common opponent in Petrolia. Era defeated the Pirates 40-14 in Week 1, while Alvord picked up a 49-8 victory over Petrolia last Friday. I like the home-field advantage, along with Alvord’s physical running game, to take over in this one. I’m rolling with the Bulldogs to hand Era its first loss of the season. Computer Pick: Alvord by 19

#2 Motley County (3-0) at Knox City (3-0), Friday 7:30pm

I have gotten some slack for the lack of coverage of six-man games in my “Top Matchups of the Week,” and rightfully so. With this being the first six-man game listed, it has been tough to gauge where all the local 1A teams are at. But there are two things that are known: Motley County is good, and Knox City is good. Motley County enters this game ranked No. 2 in the Class 1A Division II rankings with wins over Claude, Buena Vista, and Springlake Earth. Knox City, which did not have a single senior a season ago, has used that returning experience to its advantage with three mercy-rule victories to start the season. Knox City’s trio of Zander Abila, Hunter Lerma and Izaiah Trevino received a lot of praise from head coach Caleb Callaway during the preseason and have a great chance to put the Greyhounds in the Class 1A Division II spotlight with a win Friday night. I like this game to go the full distance, but I’m siding with the state-ranked Matadors to come away with the win. Computer Pick: Motley County by 4
